(January 4th, 2024) Holy Family Catholic Regional Division (HFCRD) is pleased to announce a new scholarship for graduates of Glenmary High School.

The scholarship will be developed in honour of former Peace River Mayor Michael Procter, who served for four terms from 1986 through 1998.

The HFCRD Board of Trustees and PRSD Board of Trustees each accepted an endowment gift from Mayor Procter’s Estate, after he passed away last August.

“He was a man of integrity, good will and vision”, says former HFCRD Superintendent Wayne Doll. He was a fierce advocate for Peace River and worked tirelessly to improve the lives of citizens. Mike valued education and was not shy in his support for schools. He was engaged and could be seen at school sporting events and other more public events like graduations, science fairs and concerts. Mike was proud of the graduates of Peace River and always voiced his support for student success as these graduates pursued their post secondary choices.”

We are grateful to be able to offer a scholarship in honour of Michael Procter, says Superintendent Betty Turpin. “He has left a legacy in this community and he will be honoured and remembered for many years to come. It truly is a blessing for our school division to be given the opportunity to provide a scholarship to graduating students of Glenmary School to enrich their education through his fund.”

Holy Family Catholic Regional Division and Peace River School Division will work together to create the criteria for the application and disbursement of the scholarship.
