Trustee Ochran Not Seeking Re-Election

  Posted: August 25, 2021

To the Stakeholders to Ward 1: High Prairie,

I wish to announce that I will not be seeking re-election as the Ward 1 (High Prairie) Catholic School Trustee in the upcoming School Board Election with the Holy Family Catholic Regional Division (HFCRD). I have been privileged to serve as your representative at the HFCRD Board table since November 2020 when I assumed the position left vacant after the death of the previous Ward 1 Trustee. Although my tenure has been short, I have thoroughly enjoyed my time working with the Board of Trustees and Senior Administration. St. Andrew’s School is an amazing school that will always have a very special place in my heart.

I am making this announcement publicly to encourage anyone who is feeling called to serve their community to please put their name forward in the upcoming election. The role of a Catholic School Trustee is incredibly important to our community. Our students, staff, parents, guardians and all stakeholders need representation at the Board table. Trustees are responsible for very important governance decisions that impact our schools greatly. The main criteria to be eligible to run for the Office of Catholic School Trustee is: you must be at least 18 years of age, live in the High Prairie Ward, and be of the Catholic faith. The Board of Trustees has a public meeting once per month, and Trustees also serve on several committees as well.

This role is incredibly important, and this seat should not be left vacant. Nomination papers must be submitted before noon on Monday September 20th. More information can be found on the HFCRD website here:  If you have questions about the election process, please contact the HFCRD Central Office at 780-624-3956. If you have questions about the role of a Trustee, our central office staff can connect you with a current board member.

God Bless,

Rosanne Ochran
Trustee – Ward 1 High Prairie
