Holy Family School Celebrates First Day of Classes in New School
Posted: September 6, 2017
The brand new Holy Family School celebrated the first day of classes in their brand new school within the Grimshaw Shared School Facility. The facility, which is attached to the Mile Zero Regional Multiplex, includes two new schools, the new Grimshaw Public Library, a community theatre, and shared Home Economics and Career Technology Studies labs. The brand new Holy Family School boasts 10 classrooms, and a music/drama room that transforms into a gathering area for the whole school. Like most years, the first day of school was busy with students finding their classrooms, meeting their new teachers and finding their way around the new facility.
“Our division staff and trustees have looked forward to this day for many years and we are very pleased to see this facility now open to the public,” said Superintendent Betty Turpin. “This is an exciting time for the residents of Grimshaw. This facility will be a central hub in the area for decades to come, and I’d like to thank our partners the Town of Grimshaw and Peace River School Division for their continued support, hard work and dedication throughout the construction phase.”
“We are thrilled to be celebrating the first day of school in our new school. Our school community has been buzzing with excitement about this beautiful facility,” said Holy Family School Principal Victoria Cornick. “I’d like to thank the staff, parents and volunteers for their hard work to ensure the school would be ready for today. Building a school is a long process and I am very grateful to our entire school community for their patience and support. I’d also like to thank the Mile Zero Playground Society for fundraising and building the beautiful playground the two schools share.”
The public is invited to view the new facility at the Grand Opening of the Grimshaw Shared School Facility on September 22nd at 10:00am in the Mile Zero Regional Multiplex Fieldhouse. Many dignitaries will be in attendance to bring greetings on behalf of their organizations, and for a traditional ribbon cutting. Tours of the facility, cupcakes and refreshments will be provided at 1:30pm.
