HOLY FAMILY HOSTS INFORMATION MEETING REGARDING NEW SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENT

The Holy Family Catholic Regional Catholic Division (HFCRD) Board of Trustees met with the Holy Family School community on Monday January 13th to deliver further information about the December 12th Grimshaw School announcement. HFCRD Board Chair Dianne Arcand-Lavoie and Superintendent Betty Turpin presented the Draft Project Information Sheet, and Typical Design-Build Schedule provided by Alberta Education.
They also announced that in the coming months, Alberta Infrastructure will hire a consultant to host community consultation meetings where community members will have the opportunity to give input on the design of the 2 schools. Both Arcand-Lavoie and Turpin stressed the importance of community attendance and engagement in the upcoming consultation meetings. Meeting dates will be announced in the coming weeks.
Following the presentation, members of the community had the opportunity to ask questions to the Board Chair and Superintendent, who were joined by Archbishop Gerard Pettipas, Trustee Vivianne Gayton, and Holy Family School Principal Victoria Cornick. Questions from community members ranged from the scheduling of shared spaces to student safety in public spaces within the Multiplex.
“We are excited about the new school, but we are also aware of the concerns in our community,” said Board Chair Arcand-Lavoie. “We want to stress to our school community that giving input in the community consultation process is essential to getting voices heard throughout the design process.”
The upcoming community consultation dates will be announced as soon as they are available through the various avenues of communication (the Holy Family School website, Facebook page,Twitter, HFCRD News, and Synrevoice).
