Holy Family Catholic Regional Division (HFCRD) was thrilled to take part in the grand opening of the new EvelineCharles Academy on Tuesday May 29th. The new academy is located in Peace River attached to Glenmary School. This facility is the first of its kind in Northern Alberta and will offer the same high-quality training available at their Edmonton and Calgary campuses. The new facility features professional equipment for hairstyling and esthetics that will be used for both high school cosmetology courses for Glenmary School students and post-secondary programming for hairstyling and esthetics.
“We are thrilled to partner with EvelineCharles Academy in Peace River, and offer their high-quality training to Glenmary School students. This facility will be a draw to all students in the North looking to pursue post-secondary education without going far from home,” said HFCRD Superintendent Betty Turpin. “Keeping our youth in the region is in everyone’s best interest.”
The grand opening included an official ribbon cutting and speeches from HFCRD Superintendent Betty Turpin, EvelineCharles Academy CEO Eveline Charles, and EvelineCharles Academy President Lina Heath. Both Charles and Heath are from Falher and expressed how opening this third campus is a way for them to give back to their roots.
Enrollment is open for the July 2018 intake. All interested students must complete an online pre-
requisite of 210 hours prior to beginning the practical in-class training starting in July. For more information, please visit ecacademy.com/peaceriver.
The campus is located in Glenmary School, where a $7.5 million modernization is currently ongoing. The modernization includes a new cosmetology suite, trades lab, culinary arts space, science labs, a relocated school office, and many other upgrades throughout the school. Most elements of the modernization are already completed, with the final pieces expected to be completed this summer.
