The Holy Family Catholic Regional Division (HFCRD) is pleased to announce that Victoria Cornick will be the Principal of Glenmary School and Holy Family CyberHigh in Peace River. Victoria, who is currently the Principal of Good Shepherd School in Peace River, has accepted a transfer that will commence in September 2021, after current Principal David Amiot announced that he will be moving to another school. Victoria is passionate about student learning and supporting others in their educational growth.

“During her time with HFCRD, Victoria has grown to be an effective leader who easily adapts to her environment and excels at fostering an environment of student success. She will be a wonderful leader of any school,” said Superintendent Betty Turpin. “She is committed to her faith, and makes decisions in the best interest of the whole child – mind, body and spirit.”

After earning her Bachelor of Education from Memorial University of Newfoundland, Victoria started her career with HFCRD in 2005. Victoria and her husband Kerry moved from Newfoundland to Valleyview where she taught at St. Stephen´s School for eight years, including two years as an Assistant Principal.

In 2013, Victoria became the Principal of Holy Family School in Grimshaw, where she was an integral part of the Grimshaw Shared School Facility Project. In 2014, Victoria graduated with a Master’s degree in Educational Studies from the University of Alberta. In 2020, Victoria transferred to Good Shepherd School where she led the school through the remainder of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Thank you to the entire community at Good Shepherd School for a wonderful year. Although we did not get to spend as much time together as we would like in person due to the pandemic, I am grateful to have been warmly welcomed. GSS is an amazing school with caring staff and brilliant students. I look forward to welcoming all students to Glenmary as they move up to grade seven,” said Victoria. “I look forward to taking on a new leadership role and being part of the Glenmary School community.”

HFCRD thanks current Principal David Amiot for his years of service, and wishes him the best in his future endeavours!
