HFCRD Welcomes Faith Facilitator Michael Marien
Posted: August 27, 2014
ly Family Catholic Regional Division is excited to welcome Michael Marien, our in-school staff Faith Day Facilitator for the 2014/2015 school year. After the April 2014 division-wide Faith Day, HFCRD surveyed all staff for feedback about their experience. A dominant request was for more school-based staff faith development opportunities. With the introduction of the division-wide school calendar, each HFCRD school staff will spend one Professional Collaboration Day exploring and celebrating their faith.
“We are very excited to welcome Michael Marien to our division this year,” said Superintendent Betty Turpin. “He is a dynamic facilitator that strives to connect and interact with his audience. We are very excited to offer this opportunity to all staff.”
Michael Marien has been serving Catholic school in Alberta for over thirty years as a teacher, administrator and religious education consultant for St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Schools. He is currently an adjunct lecturer for Newman Theological College in the areas of religious education and Catholic educational leadership. Michael has written articles for Celebrate, Catholic Dimension, and Embrace the Spirit, and has just completed “Growing Forward”, a planning guide for Alberta Catholic schools to be published this fall by the ACSTA. He lives on an acreage outside of Ponoka with his wife Shirley, and enjoys gardening, golfing, guitar, travel and scuba diving.
