2021 World Catholic Education Day, a Message from Board Chair Kelly Whalen
Posted: May 13, 2021

Today is World Catholic Education Day! Every year, 40 days after Easter on Ascension Thursday and on the Thursday of Catholic Education Week (May 10-14), Catholics across the globe give thanks for the gift that is Catholic education through the celebration of World Catholic Education Day. Today is a time for Catholics to take a moment to pause, reflect and pray on the gift that is Catholic education.
You may notice a lot of people are wearing blue today on social media showing their support for publicly-funded Catholic education. We encourage you all to join us to show your support by posting a photo of yourself wearing blue with the hashtag #BlueforCatholicEd. Annually, we are overwhelmed by the outpouring of support on this day. Today is no different. Today is a celebration – the support for publicly-funded Catholic education is strong across our great province. We are blessed to have the opportunity to live our faith and to share our faith with the next generation.
Bishop Terrio is leading a Liturgy at 11:00am today, hosted by Grateful Advocates for Catholic Education (GrACE). To participate through Zoom, please click this link: https://zoom.us/j/98213029174?pwd=ZlZ3UzBzUXAveTB0NEpGelU3RmFrdz09
On behalf of the HFCRD Board of Trustees, I wish you a wonderful Catholic Education Week. We are truly blessed to have the gift of publicly-funded Catholic education and this week let’s celebrate!
God bless!
