Prayers to the Families Affected by Yesterday’s Tragedy

  Posted: February 3, 2015

As many of you already know, a tragic accident occurred yesterday morning involving a school bus on highway 35 north of Grimshaw.  The school bus, holding 14 students, collided with a semi-truck at about 8:20am.  We pray for the families of those affected by the tragedy, especially the family of the bus driver who sustained injuries and subsequently passed away.  We are very grateful that all students appear to have non-life threatening injuries at this time.  Of the fourteen students on the bus, four were Holy Family School students.  We thank God that all students survived.

Thank you to emergency responders for their prompt response to yesterday’s situation.  Thank you to the entire community – students, staff, parents, and community members – for coming together to support each other through this difficult time.  Counsellors are available to support students and staff in the coming days.  Information has been sent home to parents about how to support their child through a traumatic event.  Thank you to Project PEACE Support Workers who have been an invaluable support for our students and staff.

On behalf of our division, we send heartfelt condolences to the students and families of those affected by yesterday’s events.  Through difficult times, we must join together in community and accept strength from the Lord.  We are committed to supporting our school community through this difficult time.
