HFCRD mourns the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
Posted: September 8, 2022

The Holy Family Catholic Regional Division is saddened to learn of the passing of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. Having assumed the throne at 25-years-old, she served with grace, dignity, and a commitment to public service. The Queen exemplified the meaning of public service when she joined the British army’s women’s branch in 1945. In 1947, she stated “I declare before you all that my whole life, whether it be long or short, shall be devoted to your service.” The Queen exemplified those words in her service to the commonwealth.
Her Majesty was a devout Christian. She would speak regularly about her Christian faith throughout her reign. In 2000, she said, “For me the teachings of Christ and my own personal accountability before God provide a framework in which I try to lead my life. I, like so many of you, have drawn great comfort in difficult times from Christ’s words and example.”
We recognize that the crown has a different meaning to everyone. Today is a day to reflect on the Queen’s legacy. We join those mourning her passing and my God bless the Royal Family during this difficult time.
