HFCRD Excited to Join ‘Toonies for Tuition’ Fundraiser

Holy Family Catholic Regional Division (HFCRD) is excited to join the Toonies for Tuition fundraising campaign. The campaign is an initiative of the Canadian Catholic School Trustees’ Association (CCSTA). The goal is to raise money so there is no financial barrier for parents who want their children to gain a Catholic education. According to the CCSTA, Catholic schools in BC, Manitoba and Nunavut are partially funded. In Quebec and the Maritimes, there is no funding for Catholic education.

“We are blessed that Catholic education is publicly funded in Alberta,” says HFCRD Board Chair, Kelly Whalen. “However, there are provinces where Catholic education receives little, or sometimes no government funding. Our Board of Trustees unanimously supports Toonies for Tuition.”

There will be a friendly competition among HFCRD schools to see which one can raise the most money per-capita. No decisions have been made yet on potential prizes.

“We have extremely generous parents, students and staff that are part of our HFCRD family,” says Superintendent Betty Turpin. “Catholic education is fully publicly funded in three provinces and two territories. Please consider giving to this wonderful cause if you are able.”
