The Holy Family Catholic Regional Division (HFCRD) would like to congratulate John Meagher, the recipient of HFCRD’s 2019 Excellence in Catholic Education Award. John, who has worked in the HFCRD for over 30 years, first as a Teacher, then as a Vice Principal and now as the Faith Permeation Coordinator, lives his faith both professionally and personally. John uses his God-given gifts and talents to lead the division’s faith initiatives in a way that is encouraging and positive. He prioritizes relationships and that has improved his effectiveness exponentially.
“We are truly blessed to have John as our Faith Permeation Coordinator. John has become a faith leader in our division and has gone above and beyond to permeate faith in every school community,” said Superintendent Betty Turpin. “John’s work greatly affects our schools and improves the spiritual lives of students and staff. He inspires others to continuously grow in their faith and accepts everyone no matter where they sit on the faith spectrum.”
John is instrumental in a large number of faith initiatives including coordinating the NET Team, organizing retreats for every grade, leading the Faith Coordinators in every school, organizing the division’s annual Faith Day, implementing the Religion curriculum, among many other responsibilities. John is an integral part of our Central Office team and HFCRD is blessed to have him in our division.
John was honoured with his award at the Alberta Catholic School Trustees’ Association Blueprints Conference, which was held from May 7th to 10th. The Excellence in Catholic Education Award recipient is recognized and nominated annually by each Alberta Catholic school jurisdiction, and the award is presented by the Council of Catholic School Superintendents of Alberta. A nominee must be a practicing Catholic who is a certified teacher teaching or working full time in a publicly-funded Catholic school jurisdiction in Alberta.
