Important Message to Good Shepherd School Families

  Posted: January 17, 2021

To the Parents and Guardians of Good Shepherd School,

We were notified today that one individual at our school has tested positive for COVID-19. Click here to view the letter from Alberta Health Services. All close contacts of this individual have been contacted. Students who are close contacts can return to school on Monday February 1st. Even if these individuals test negative, they are required to continue isolating for the full isolation period.

If you do not receive a phone call from our school today, your child is not a close contact of a positive case and is not required to isolate. If anyone in your household is experiencing any symptoms, they should please stay home and get tested as soon as possible. Out of respect for all individuals involved, and in accordance with Alberta Health Services guidelines, no further information will be shared about this case.

All students who are close contacts will be provided at home learning during this isolation period. Your child’s teacher will contact you with assignments that your child can complete at home.

We remind families to monitor for any signs or symptoms of COVID-19 using the Alberta Health Screening Questionnaire. Please remember to complete the checklist each day prior to attending school. If you or a member of your family has any of the symptoms of illness listed, please fill out the online Alberta Health Services COVID-19 self-assessment or call Health Link at 811.

We encourage all parents and guardians of students who test positive to report their test results to our school as soon as possible by emailing victoria.cornick@hfcrd.ab.ca. That email address is monitored on a regular basis, including evenings and weekends, and all emails will remain confidential.

The health and safety of our staff, students and community remains our first priority. We know this news can be distressing for families and supports are available. Please be assured we will  work closely with Alberta Health Services to ensure we follow their ongoing recommendations.

We will continue to provide additional information to parents and guardians as it is available.

Yours in Christ,

Betty Turpin, Superintendent and Victoria Cornick, Principal
