Important Message for the Parents and Guardians of Holy Family School

  Posted: February 2, 2021

To the Parents and Guardians of Holy Family School,

We were notified today that one adult at our school has tested positive for COVID-19. This individual was in contact with a small number of students and staff during their infectious period. All close contacts have been contacted, and we thank them and their families for their prompt attention to this matter. Even if close contacts test negative, they are required to isolate for the full isolation period. We would like to clarify that this individual had a rapid COVID-19 test done today and received results within hours. This individual did not go to school while waiting for test results. This individual was not at school while symptomatic.

Please note that Principal Krista Veitch is a close contact and is isolating at home. She will work from home and is available by phone or email. Please call the school if you need guidance to contact her directly. John Meagher will be the Substitute Principal until Wednesday, February 17th.

If anyone in your household is experiencing any symptoms, they should please stay home and get tested as soon as possible. Out of respect for all individuals involved, and in accordance with Alberta Health Services guidelines, no further information will be shared about this case.

We remind families to monitor for any signs or symptoms of COVID-19 using the Alberta Health Screening Questionnaire. Please remember to complete the checklist each day prior to attending school. If you or a member of your family has any of the symptoms of illness listed, please fill out the online Alberta Health Services COVID-19 self-assessment or call Health Link at 811.

We encourage all parents and guardians of students who test positive to report their test results to our school as soon as possible by emailing krista.veitch@hfcrd.ab.ca. That email address is monitored on a regular basis, including evenings and weekends, and all emails will remain confidential.

The health and safety of our staff, students and community remains our first priority. We know this news can be distressing for families and supports are available. Please be assured we will  work closely with Alberta Health Services to ensure we follow their ongoing recommendations.

We will continue to provide additional information to parents and guardians as it is available.

Yours in Christ,

Betty Turpin, Superintendent and Krista Veitch, Principal
