COVID-19 Update for Glenmary Families
Posted: November 13, 2020

To the Parents and Guardians of Glenmary School,
We have two important pieces of information to share with our school community.
- Due to the large number of junior high students who are currently self-isolating, we will continue to offer all junior high classes online. Junior high students will return to in-person learning on Thursday November 19. Senior high students will return to in-person learning as scheduled on Monday November 16.
- We were notified of 1 additional confirmed case of COVID-19 at our school, bringing our total to 10 positive cases. We have already contacted all staff and families who are close contacts of the positive individual and encouraged them to isolate and get tested for COVID-19. In order to prevent the burn out of critical staff members, we are notifying all close contacts by email. Out of respect for the individuals, and in accordance with Alberta Health Services guidelines, no further information will be shared about these cases.
We remind families to monitor for any signs or symptoms of COVID-19 using the Alberta Health Screening Questionnaire. Please remember to complete the checklist each day prior to attending school. If you or a member of your family has any of the symptoms of illness listed, please fill out the online Alberta Health Services COVID-19 self-assessment or call Health Link at 811.
We continue to encourage all parents and guardians of students who test positive to report their test results to our school as soon as possible by emailing gms@hfcrd.ab.ca. That email address is monitored on a regular basis, including evenings and weekends, and all emails will remain confidential.
The health and safety of our staff, students and community remains our first priority. We know this news can be distressing for families and supports are available. Please be assured we will work closely with Alberta Health Services to ensure we follow their ongoing recommendations.
We will continue to provide additional information to parents and guardians as it is available.
Yours in Christ,
Betty Turpin, Superintendent and David Amiot, Principal
