Trustee Fisher Not Seeking Re-Election

  Posted: September 17, 2021

To the Stakeholders of Ward 2 – McLennan,

With sadness, I share with you all that I have decided not to seek re-election in the upcoming School Board Election with the Holy Family Catholic Regional Division (HFCRD). I have been a teacher, administrator and Trustee with HFCRD, but now it is time for me to leave the division and time for a new person to represent the McLennan Ward to bring a new perspective to the board table. Representing the McLennan Ward as a Catholic School Trustee for the past 8 years has been an honour. I thank you all for your trust and confidence in me.

Since I am moving on, the McLennan Ward needs representation. I encourage anyone who is feeling called to serve the McLennan Ward to put their name forward. The role of a Catholic School Trustee is incredibly important to our school, parish and community. Trustees make very important governance decisions that impact local schools and families. The main criteria to be eligible to run for the Office of Catholic School Trustee is: you must be at least 18 years of age, live in the McLennan Ward, and be of the Catholic faith. The Board of Trustees has a public meeting once per month, and Trustees also serve on several committees.

If you are interested in running, nomination papers must be submitted before noon on Monday September 20th. More information can be found on the HFCRD website here:  If you have questions about the election process, please contact the HFCRD Central Office at 780-624-3956. If you have questions about the role of a Trustee, our central office staff can connect you with a current board member. This seat should not be left vacant. I encourage all stakeholders to consider putting their name forward.

God Bless,

Gary Fisher
Trustee – Ward 2 McLennan
