HFCRD Board of Trustees Approves Inclusive Catholic Communities Providing Safe and Caring Learning Environment Policy
Posted: March 16, 2016
At the March 15th Regular Board Meeting, the Holy Family Catholic Regional Division (HFCRD) Board of Trustees approved Policy 18: Inclusive Catholic Communities Providing Safe and Caring Learning Environment. The Policy focuses on the Board’s continued commitment to provide inclusive learning environments, and was created in response to the Guidelines for Best Practices Document released by Alberta Education in January 2016.
“Our Board continues to feel that fostering inclusive Catholic communities is a priority for every HFCRD school. Our unanimous vote today is a reflection of our shared desire to provide caring, safe and respectful learning environments for all students,” said HFCRD Board Chair Dianne Arcand-Lavoie. “We thank our stakeholders for their feedback regarding this important topic, and thank our senior administration for their hard work in creating this policy.”
This policy will be the foundation for an Administrative Procedure that will be reviewed on Thursday March 17th by all administrators in the Division, and will be sent to the Minister of Education with the Board Policy. A Frequently Asked Questions document was distributed at February School Council meetings and stakeholders were asked to provide feedback. Links to key documents are provided below. The approved policy and procedure will be submitted to Alberta Education before the March 31st deadline, as requested by the Minister of Education.
