HFCRD Board Meeting Highlights – June 21, 2023

The Holy Family Catholic Regional Division held its Regular Board Meeting for this month on June 21. Here aare some of the meeting’s highlights:

  • Trustees were informed that the Division won a trophy from the Canadian Catholic Schools Trustees Association (CCSTA) for raising $6,520.10 for Toonies for Tuition, which is the most per-capita in Canada. The money will go towards supporting families in jurisdictions where Catholic education is not fully funded. Rosary and Holy Family Schools raised the most per capita within HFCRD.
  • The Board unanimously passed a motion to support the Vape Detector Initiative (which also has the ability to monitor air quality) which will see vape detectors installed in each school.
  • The Board approved the 2023-25 Education Assurance Plan.
  • The Board put forward, and approved, a motion to provide Support Staff with a tiered RRSP contribution, along with a Health Spending Account.
  • Trustee Leanne Cox gave the Board an update on the Separate School Formation meeting at St. Andrew’s School on June 12. Trustee Cox said the meeting was well-attended and that a follow-up meeting will be held in early fall.
  • The Board approved the dates for the Division’s three Saints Days. The dates of the HFCRD Saints Days are:
    • Saint Teresa of Avila – Friday, October 13, 2023
    • Bernard of Clairvaux – Wednesday, February 7, 2024
    • Saint Anthony of the Desert – Tuesday, May 7, 2024
  • The Board set its Organizational Meeting for August 29, 2023. At that meeting, the Board will vote on a proposed schedule of meeting dates for the 2023-24 school year.
